The ancient pagan Celts, and later, Christians, used the “Thin Place” to describe mesmerizing places like the wind-swept isle of Iona. Heaven and earth, the Celtic saying goes, are only three feet apart, but in thin spaces that distance is even shorter.
Thin Space features repertoire with text and music that encourages the listener to transcend the challenges of everyday life and enter into a state of hope and peace. Featured works include Z. Randall Stroope’s Psalm 23, Bob Chilcott’s Remember Me and Andrea Ramsey’s Sing to Me. Featured poets are Sara Teasdale, Emily Dickinson, and Christina Rossetti.
Four choirs of Pittsburgh Girls Choir will be performing including Concentio (8th – 12th graders), Via (5th – 9th graders), Harmonia (3rd – 6th graders) and Women of Song (adults).
It is our hope that Thin Space, will transport you to a place where the distance between earth and heaven disappears.
