Auditions

Thank you for your interest in Pittsburgh Girls Choir! For sixteen years, we have been dedicated to creating strong communities of girls united by the desire to grow in musical knowledge, vocal/performance skills, cultural awareness and personal responsibility in a hard-working and fun environment.

We believe that every girl can learn to sing and do not reject anyone. The purpose of the audition is to help us place each girl in the choir which will enable her to thrive.

Voice Placement Auditions

May 18th, 4:30-7:30pm (1st-8th grade)

May 20th, 4:00-8:00pm (9th-12th grade)

*Women of Song, our adult ensemble, does not require an audition. However, new singers should email the director at julianna@pghchoralarts.org to schedule a voice placement prior to the first rehearsal. Registration for Women of Song can be found on our Women of Song (Fall 2021) web page.

Girls entering grades 1-5 (Fall 2021) are invited to schedule a meet-and-greet with the director of their respective choir (Melodia, grades 1-2; Harmonia, grades 3-5.) We ask that at least one parent is present for this meeting.  This provides an opportunity for both student and parent to get to know the teacher and to find out more about Pittsburgh Girls Choir.  The student will be asked to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or the ABC Song.  This experience is very low key and affirming.

Girls entering grades 6-12 (Fall 2021) are asked to schedule an individual audition with director, Kathryn Barnard. We ask that at least one parent is present for this meeting.  This provides an opportunity for both student and parent to get to know the teacher and to find out more about Pittsburgh Girls Choir. More information about audition preparation can be found below.

All voice placements will be held virtually over Zoom. To schedule a meet-and-greet/audition time, click on the link below that corresponds to the singer’s grade level.
